Virtual Camp with SC State Museum

At-Home Virtual Summer Camp

All Ages — $100/Family Kit
- Each day is split into two sessions: 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
- Each camp week comes with a kit of supplies for the daily activities. Kits will include enough materials for one camper – but can be shared with other campers in the household. Additional kits are available for an add-on fee. Kits will be available for pick-up at the museum on the Friday before the camps week starts from 6 – 7 p.m.
- Camp activities are designed with parents in mind. Activities are intended to be completed with virtual assistance from museum educators and require little parental oversight.
- Activities are hands-on and mostly mess-free.
Materials pick-up: June 26 (6-7 p.m.); Materials drop-off: July 3 (6-7 p.m.)
Astronomy Day – Exploring Space
Mon., June 29
Past and present spacecraft will be our inspiration to build our own tool for exploring a new world. Learn how astronauts take social distancing to the extreme by living and working in space and find out if you have what it takes to become an astronaut.
Robotics and Technology – LEGO WeDo 2.0
Tues., June 30
Campers will get to know Milo and the basics of LEGO WeDO 2.0 building and then we will explore all of the other amazing builds available to them including a jumping frog and race car!
Natural History – Backyard Habitats
Wed., July 1
Learn about the flora and fauna that call our backyards home while designing an animal home of our own. Investigate animal indicators of environmental health and make your own commemorative wildlife “swag”.
STEAM Day – Bottle Rockets
Thurs., July 2
We’ll take a look at the world of physics as we create two different types of cars using different types of forces. Bottle Rocket time! While we use a high powered air compressor at the museum – we’ll use a safer alternative for you to create your own rockets and launcher at home.
History – Starstruck Tales
Fri., July 3
We’ll travel back in time to visit astronomer Maria Mitchell and construct a spyglass. Then we’ll examine the Leonid shower of 1833 and create our own commemorative Dave pot!
