Columbia-area high school students are invited to participate in “My Street, My Story: Celebrating History and Community through Youth Expression,” a visual and literary arts contest created by the USC Center for Civil Rights History and Research.

Inspired by the Center’s current exhibition, Intersection on Main Street: African American Life in Columbia, located in the Columbia Museum of Art’s Our Story Matters gallery, students are encouraged to use their preferred methods of artistic or written expression to create a body of work that draws connections from the stories of community and resilience of the Historic Black Business District in Columbia to their own present-day experiences in their community.
