Step back in time with IAAM and explore over 150 historical artifacts, works of art, and engaging interactive experiences. Discover the rich history of African cultures and their connections to the Americas through the African Roots and African Routes exhibits.
This trip is free and open to homeschool families residing in South Carolina. All attendees including adults and children ages 3 and under must reserve a ticket. There is a limit of 2 adults per ticket reservation. Reservations made with more than 2 adults will be automatically cancelled.

Please note: The group tour starts promptly at 11:30 am. Anyone who arrives after the start time will not be allowed to join the group and will be required to pay regular admission. Please see the event itinerary for detailed time line.
The museum does not offer general parking. There is a parking garage beside the aquarium that is within walking distance of the museum. The parking garage address is 24 Calhoun St. There is an hourly charge with an $18 daily max. Please visit the garage website for up to date rate information. There are limited disabled parking spaces at the museum.

Akoma Cares is a homeschool & Community Resource Organization dedicated to supporting families of the African diaspora on their homeschool journeys. They provide resources, opportunities for enrichment, education, and socialization for melanated families in the Carolina region.
